Working On A Dream
In 2010 Seven Doors was awarded by Creative Scotland the Inspiring Community Grant to deliver multidisciplinary artistic activities to young vulnerable people in Secure Units and Special Schools in Edinburgh. This 18 months’ long project was created and delivered by Elena Masoero and Sheila Macdougall and involved 10 other artists.
The project also saw the creation of a CPD programme for teachers and care staff. Sheila Macdougall created and delivered this programme.
Working On A Dream was awarded the Achievement Award from the City of Edinburgh Council and was nominated three times for the National Lottery Awards. Elena Masoero and Sheila Macdougall were invited at SIRCC (Scottish Institute For Residential Child Care) and at The Healing Environment (City of Edinburgh Council) conferences to deliver workshops and present their project. This project was also supported by BBC Children In Need, Esmée Fairbairn and Fairer Scotland.

In 2012 Seven Doors won an Award For All grant to work with young vulnerable young people in Panmure St. Ann’s, a special school in Edinburgh. Seven Doors delivered multidisciplinary workshops guiding the young people towards the creation of a short film. The young people’s film, Secrets & Wants was screened at the Edinburgh Filmhouse in March 2013.
The project was created by Elena Masoero. The workshops were delivered by Elena Masoero and Catriona MacInnes (Filmmaker) and Sheila MacDougall created and delivered CPD for teachers and care staff.
Seven Doors is seeking funding for a project to take the work of Shakespeare in primary schools and to deliver puppet and mask-making workshops in special schools in Edinburgh.
